In God's Eyes
To love your neighbor as yourself
We have to understand
That it's not some suggestion
But rather, a command.
Remembering that your brother
Is more than kith and kin
And not just one accepted
By the color of his skin.
Yes, your neighbor is regarded
In God's eyes, just the same
Therefore, to treat them badly
Leaves only you to blame.
Should you harbor seeds of malice
Animosity or hate
You can't be pleasing to the Lord
If allowed to germinate.
But that will never happen
Lest you forget to pray
That you would be victimized
By what they do or say.
